Injustice

I am so upset by this injustice.
A Pakistani minister of social welfare, who also is a women’s activist, businesswoman, and mother of two, has been killed by an Islamic extremist. Why? For being who she is - - and refusing to wear a veil.
This kind of thing makes me so angry. I can't even begin to comprehend the mindset of someone who believes women are inferior. It's just plain warped.

This is indeed one of those things that Should Not Be, but unfortunately is, all over the Islamic world. Given how things are, the Minister was extraordinarly brave to accept appointment to such a post. Don't read me wrong, but all of the facts you recite made her an instant target -- and probably a subject of numerous death threats from the moment she became prominent.

I havent' a clue what to do about it. Things shouldn't be that way, but in much of the world, it is. . .and will be unless and until Islam and the other aspects of culture in that and other places learns or decides differently.

Uggh... I don't wanna go there. Just know that I totally agree with you.

I agree with both these posts. It boggles my mind that there are places in the world that are so closed-minded and backward-thinking that they would do something so tragic as to kill someone.

I like to think it's more ignorance and lack of education than pure religious belief. I'm sure that there were/are aspects of Christianity that thought the same way at some point throughout history. And like El Jefe, don't read me wrong, I think that education has given us the opportunity to understand better.

It makes me want to go head-to-head with the men who think this way. "You think you're better than me? How?? Prove it."
