Combat Pay

I can't and won't elaborate, but ...
I swear I should get combat pay for some of these stories I get caught in the middle of.
Here I am, preferring the nice and happy feature stories, or at least the informative stories to which I feel personally attached, and I keep having to do these controversial, high-profile stories that just get everybody all riled up and ready to pounce.
I sit there in the middle, feeling compelled to mediate the situation somehow, but, of course, I can't do that so I just try to be as fair as I can to both (or more) sides, which is nearly impossible considering what I usually am given to work with.
I think I
just may go in to hiding one of these days.

How about hiding in the middle of a hot tub with a glass of wine? I think that's what you need....

Unfortunately, sometimes the stories that generate that personal attachment are those 'lightning rod' stories that someone either is passionately for or against.

That is, of course, the story you're referring to isn't one of those that you prefer to do. In which case, I feel for you b/c it sucks when you have to do something that you don't want to do

Although, justcarl's response sounds like a good idea

Thanks, yia. I made that comment because I've been there. Some years ago I worked in customer support as a phone jockey for 5 years. It was at a large software house while I waited for the industry to turn around. I hate phones! Not only that, but for a portion of that time I worked 2nd shift which meant not seeing my wife except on weekends. (She had a day job.) But when you have bills to pay and a family to feed....

I think I'll go with Carl's comment. I should be able to schedule that sometime ... next year.

I will have some fun things to report this weekend, though, so be on the lookout!
