American Idol Premiere

I never get to watch TV so the American Idol Premiere is my excuse, as I'll probably write about it in my column this week. First, commercials:
1.) They can make a Coke float look daaang good.
2.) I really like this "real beauty" campaign by Dove.
3.) "Deborah" Gibson will always be Debbie Gibson to me.
The premiere itself: (If you haven't figured it out, I'm following/posting along with the show.)
This girl - Crystal - is cracking me up! This is exactly the kind of girl who was never given any kind of grounding in "real life." Hello! Parents! Raise your daughters!! (Her mom definitely explains things.)
Traditional Assyrian (sp.?) folklore clothes?? They say they're the new black.
Word of Advice: Do not roll around the floor during your audition. Especially if it is the difference between getting kicked out of the country and not.
I'm loving the twin guys. Look at their smiles! :) Baby, baby, baby, baby, I love you. I really do.
Is this guy possessed?? I like that he can talk to animals, though. Always good to have a Plan B.
OH MY GOSH! Poor Lady Marmalade!
In conclusion, Simon: "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Whatever."

It's nice to know we have similiar tastes (Coke) and dis-tastes (Simon). Did I hear something about him having his own show? Puleeze.

Because of him, I don't even watch. As far as 'reality' shows go.... no thanks. I want my 'Friends', my 'X-files', my 'M*A*S*H' back!!! (woah. ice cream headache) ;-)

Somewhere in the deep, dark recessess of my desk drawer, behind the CDs, and all the highbrow stuff; a place where El Jefe looks for music only when he is CERTAIN he is listening alone...there might, just MIGHT be a Debbie Gibson tape, but if there is, I'm not saying...

At least your first tape didn't go something like this:
"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. The Right Stuff."

Da New Kids eh ? (Google is SUCH a wonderful thing).

When I was younger I used to love the GoGo's. (I am dating myself). I have all their stuff on CD. Wife calls it noise pollution.

I've been singing

"I think we're alone now.
There doesn't seem to be anyone around.
I think we're alone now.
The beating of our hearts is the only sound."

all afternoon now. :P

To El Jefe and Caroline:

It could always be worse, The music I listened to during that time had names like:

Alisha, Stevie B, Coro, etc

The joys of growing up in Jersey.
